The behemoth stumbles From Krebs on Security Doug Madory is director of internet analysis at Kentik, a San Francisco-based network monitoring company. Madory said at approximately 11:39 a.m. ET today (15:39 UTC), someone at Facebook caused an update to be made to the company’s Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) records. BGP is a mechanism by which Internet service providers of the world share information about which providers are responsible for routing Internet traffic to which specific groups of Internet addresses.
Hello John, I wonder if you know what happened to many broadband systems yesterday alongside the Facebook etc outage. Mine went down as did my son's (we both also lost 4G for a while) and later I found this: https://downdetector.co.uk/. Click on each provider and you can see that many broadband providers had massive problems, but only the FB etc problem was covered in the media. I'm perplexed and would love to understand this. Best wishes, Nichola (ps my children were at Coton school with yours and we came to your house a few times. I hope life is happy for you all these days.)
